Sp-Berner closes 2018 with turnover of €159 million and a new logistics plant in Paterna

Our company continues to consolidate itself as a leader in the manufacturing of industrial plastics and for the consumer. 

We closed financial year 2018 with turnover of 159 million euros, pre-tax profits of €12.8 million and an EBITDA of €23.5 million. This means anincrease in the volume of business of 4.6%.

We produce more than 1,000 catalogue items for 46 countries


We manufacture over a thousand items for 46 countries and we are a specialist supplier for Mercadona. The acquisition and commissioning of a new logistics facility with a surface area of 60,000 m2 situated in the vicinity of Paterna, together with the investment in RDI and state-of-the-art equipment, involved an overall investment of 20 million euros in 2018 alone.

Our great challenge in Sp-Berner: to recycle at least the same amount of tonnes of plastic that we transform every year


In the commitment to sustainability, our objective and great challenge is to recycle 35,000 tonnes of plastic per year. A target that we intend to hit in the next few years.


Since 2013, Sp-Berner has invested over 100 million euros in the following goals:

  • To achieve our environmental protection objectives.
  • Generation of own brands.
  • International growth.

Of all these milestones, our principal investment has been in new plants and recycling processes (the circular economy), rolling out cutting edge technology at our Aldaia plant.

In addition, we are well on our way to being able to incorporate 50% of recycled materials in our own recycling centres.

This successful example of sustainable initiative led to us receiving the European EPRO Award for thel Best Recycled Product” explains Julian Escarpa, CEO of Sp-Berner.


Acquisitions and exports

The acquisition of the Italian company Shaf, the brand that sells furniture for patios and gardens, as well as the creation of a new plant of dental products in Aldaia, have meant significant investments for Sp-Berner.

With regard to th international environment, currently, 30% of the production is allocated to exports. Europe is our leading client, followed by China, North and South America, and North Africa.

Sp-Berner is committed to talent and new technologies

At Sp-Berner we focus on people and that’s why we have launched a  “Healthy Company”programme, with yoga, pilates and fresh fruit for the whole team. What’s more, we have devoted almost 11,000 hours of training for the more than 900 employees of the 5 plants.


In 2018, 67 new jobs were created, of which 11 belonged to the programme “Luna” (Moon). This programme was launched in the financial year we have just ended and its aim is to attract and retain talent. In this way we give the opportunity to recent graduates to work in a great company and develop as its future leaders

Following this line of development, the investment in Social Networks, our new website and online sales constitute, as well as a financial investment, an investment in digital talent in the Marketing Department.
